Coals is the Polish duo of Katarzyna Kowalczyk and Łukasz Rozmysłowski. Their name stems from coal mines located in the region they come from – Silesia. The band, whose style has been described by The Quietus as „dreamy, ethereal pop based on folk and electronics”, has performances at various foreign festivals on their account, including Positivus Festival, Primavera Sound or Iceland Airwaves. While being in Reykjavik, they’ve recorded video session for iconic KEXP radio in Kex Hostel.
In 2018, their warmly welcomed debut, „Tamagotchi” was out. The record was accompanied with tournee that included cities in Germany, Austria, Czech Republic or Estonia. The sophomore of that LP is “Klan” EP written exclusively in Polish is turned towards hip-hop style. Numerous guests such as Piernikowski, Schafter, Bella Ćwir or Kubi Producent have enriched new songs. In 2020, Coals are to reveal new album with the help of PIAS [Poland and Eastern Europe] label. “Sleepwalker” is the first single from the upcoming release.
